Climate protection and biodiversity are closely linked with each other, especially in Vienna: Around one-third of the city‘s area is protected grassland. The City of Vienna has been continuously taking steps to reduce pesticides since the 1980s. It has already reduced the use of pesticides in its sphere of influence, replaced chemical synthetic pesticides with biological agents and alternative methods, and completely discontinued the use of agents of concern, such as glyphosate (Roundup).
